4. How We Share Your Information

We share information with the following categories of recipients, only as needed for the purposes described in this Policy.

  • Service providers and contractors. We use third parties to operate our website, schedule and dispatch service, process payments, host our service management system, send communications, track calls, run advertising, analyze website performance, and provide customer support. These providers receive only the information they need to perform their services for Steve’s, and they are required to protect that information.

These companies may collect information about your visits to our website and your interactions with our advertising, and may combine that information with information they collect from other sources. See Section 6 for more information about cookies and your choices.
  • Financing partners. If you apply for financing through our website or through a technician, your application information is shared with our third-party financing partner, who is responsible for the financing decision and for handling your application under their own privacy practices.
  • Call tracking providers. Phone numbers displayed on our website are routed through a call tracking provider that records call metadata and may, where permitted by law and disclosed at the start of the call, record call audio. See Section 8.
  • Lead generation platforms. If you reach us through a lead generation platform, the platform may share your information with us, and we may report back to the platform whether your request resulted in service.
  • Affiliates and corporate transactions. We may share information with affiliated companies under common ownership, and with successors in connection with a sale, merger, restructuring, or similar corporate transaction.
  • Legal and safety. We may share information when required by law, in response to legal process, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Steve’s, our customers, our employees, or the public.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some of the advertising and analytics sharing described above may be considered a ‘sale’ or ‘sharing’ of personal information under certain state laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act. See Section 13 for more information and for instructions on how to opt out.

5. Legal Basis and Purpose for Processing

Depending on the activity, we process information based on one or more of the following: your consent, the performance of a contract with you, our legitimate business interests in operating and improving Steve’s, and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar technologies to recognize your browser or device, to remember your preferences, to measure how you use the site, and to deliver advertising. Cookies fall into the following categories.

  • Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are required for the website to function, such as enabling you to submit a form or move between pages.
  • Performance and analytics cookies. These cookies allow us to count visits, measure how visitors use the site, and identify pages that are most and least popular. We use Google Analytics for this purpose.
  • Advertising cookies. These cookies are used by us and by advertising partners such as Google and Meta to deliver advertising that may be relevant to you, to limit how often you see an advertisement, and to measure the performance of advertising. They may also be used to recognize you across different websites and devices.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and through your device settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete cookies, or be alerted when a cookie is being set. Refusing cookies may affect your ability to use some features of our website.

Where required by law, you will see a cookie consent banner the first time you visit our site, which allows you to accept, reject, or customize your cookie settings. You can change your selection at any time through the cookie settings link in the website footer.

We honor Global Privacy Control signals where required by law. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we will treat it as an opt-out of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. SMS and Text Messaging Program

If you provide your mobile phone number and check the consent box on a form on our website, or if you otherwise opt in to text messages from Steve’s, you agree to receive text messages from us. The terms of our SMS program are as follows.

  • Program purpose. Text messages may include appointment confirmations and reminders, dispatch notifications, follow-up after service, replies to your inquiries, promotional offers, and other marketing messages.
  • Message frequency. Message frequency varies. You may receive up to [confirm typical frequency, for example, ‘six messages per month’] for marketing messages, plus transactional messages related to your service.
  • Message and data rates. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your wireless plan. Steve’s does not charge a fee for sending text messages.
  • Opt out. You can opt out of marketing text messages at any time by replying STOP to any marketing message. After you reply STOP, you will receive a confirmation message. You will not receive further marketing text messages, but you may continue to receive transactional messages related to existing service requests unless you contact us to stop those as well.
  • Help. Reply HELP to any text message to receive instructions, or contact us using the information in Section 17.
  • Supported carriers. Our SMS program is compatible with major United States wireless carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

By providing your mobile phone number and opting in, you confirm that you are the subscriber or authorized user of the phone number you provided and that you are at least 18 years old.

8. Calls and Call Recording

Phone calls to and from numbers displayed on our website are routed through a call tracking service. This service records call metadata, including the phone number you called from, the date and time of the call, the duration of the call, and the marketing source that produced the call.

Calls to and from Steve’s may also be recorded for quality assurance, training, dispute resolution, and service improvement purposes. Where required by applicable state law, you will hear a notice at the beginning of the call advising you that the call may be recorded. By continuing the call after the notice, you consent to the recording. If you do not consent to recording, you may end the call and contact us by email or web form instead.

9. Marketing Communications and Your Choices

With your permission and where allowed by law, we may send you marketing communications by email, text message, postal mail, and phone. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by following the instructions below.

  • Postal mail. Contact us using the information in Section 17 to request removal from our mailing list.
  • Phone. Tell our representative you do not want to receive marketing calls, or contact us using the information in Section 17.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the services you have requested, to maintain our business records, to comply with legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Specific retention periods depend on the type of information and the purpose for which it is held. When information is no longer needed, we delete it, anonymize it, or take other reasonable steps to remove personal identifiers.

11. Data Security

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These safeguards include limiting access to personal information to employees and service providers who need it to perform their work, encrypting payment and other sensitive information in transit, and reviewing our security practices on a regular basis.
