Fix What’s Behind the Vents

Your ductwork carries air throughout your home, but when something goes wrong, loose connections, holes, or damage, your system has to work harder to keep you comfortable. Our duct repair service helps seal the problem and restore performance.

We help you solve:

  • Uneven cooling or heating
  • AC that runs longer than normal
  • Noisy airflow or rattling duct sounds
  • Poor air quality or excess dust
  • Wasted energy through leaks

Common Signs You Need Air Duct Repair

Loud Noises Coming from Your Ductwork

If you are hearing loud popping or knocking noises coming from your air ducts, this is most likely the result of uneven airflow and pressure. As the air is pushed through the air ducts of your home, it can cause the ducts to expand or “pop.” This may be a sign that your ductwork is damaged.

Increased Utility Costs Without Using More Energy

Have you noticed that your heating and cooling bills have increased, even though you haven’t been running your systems more frequently? If this is the case, there is a possibility that your air ducts have been damaged and the air your systems are trying to push through the ductwork is leaking.

Excess Dust in Your Home

Noticing that dust accumulates on your home’s surfaces quickly? This could be happening due to damaged air ducts or an overdue air duct cleaning service.

Abnormal Sneezing and Coughing Indoors

It is common that when you have poor air quality in your home, you will notice yourself sneezing or coughing more frequently. This is a result of excess dust and allergens that are being released into the air from faulty ductwork. If you are experiencing any symptoms of poor indoor air quality, you may need air duct repair service.

Our repairs are clean, efficient, and designed to make a noticeable difference right away.

Air Duct Repair In Maui, HI FAQs

Mastic sealant is the professional standard for duct sealing. It’s a thick paste applied at joints and connections that cures into a flexible, permanent seal. It doesn’t crack or peel the way fabric duct tape does over time, and it stays bonded through the thermal cycling that duct connections experience. Metal-backed tape rated for HVAC use is an acceptable alternative for certain applications. Regular household duct tape, despite the name, is not a reliable duct repair material and fails relatively quickly in attic temperature extremes.
Standard duct tape is not suitable for duct repairs. It loses adhesion at high attic temperatures, which are common in Maui, and the adhesive degrades within months, leaving the joint open again. If you’re doing a temporary patch, metal-backed foil tape rated for HVAC use will hold better. But for a permanent fix, mastic applied by a technician to the actual joint is the right solution. Relying on tape repairs means revisiting the same joints repeatedly.
Very likely. Weak airflow to specific rooms while the system runs normally overall points to a duct issue in the branch serving that zone. The most common causes are a disconnected flex duct run that’s dumping air into the attic, a severely kinked flex duct section that’s nearly blocked, a damper that’s closed or stuck closed in a zoned system, or a duct branch that was undersized in the original installation. A technician with attic access can usually find the problem quickly by tracing the duct run from the trunk to the register.
For duct runs in the attic or in wall cavities, the repairs are not visible from the living space. Where a flex duct section in an accessible space has been replaced or a joint has been re-wrapped with mastic, the repair is visible if you inspect that area of the duct system, but it doesn’t affect the appearance of the home’s interior. Attic access and utility areas may show evidence of the work, which is normal.
Hold your hand near duct connections in any accessible area while the system is running and feel for air movement that shouldn’t be there. A lit stick of incense near joints will show airflow disruption if a significant leak is present. For inaccessible ducts, a duct pressure test performed by a technician provides quantified results and can confirm where in the system the leakage is occurring. Thermal imaging can also detect temperature anomalies in walls and ceilings caused by conditioned air escaping into the building envelope.
