Don’t Let Energy Slip Through the Cracks

Over time, small leaks in your air ducts can lead to big problems, hot and cold spots, higher utility costs, and dusty, uncomfortable air. Our team seals those leaks to restore comfort and efficiency.

Common Signs of Duct Leaks Include:

  • Air that doesn’t feel strong coming from your vents
  • Some rooms are much hotter or colder than others
  • Higher than usual electricity bills
  • Visible gaps or holes in your attic ductwork

Energy Bill Savings

When you seal off any leaks in your air ducts, you can greatly improve the efficiency of your heating and cooling system.

Uniform Temperature

Leaks can make some rooms colder or hotter than others, but our sealing process can help you have more control over the temperature throughout your home.

Less Dust and Allergies

Dirt, debris, and allergens can find their way into your HVAC system through cracks, but a thorough seal can keep them out of your air.

We’ll assess your system and seal it up right, giving you cleaner air and a more efficient home.

Air Duct Sealing Service In Maui, HI FAQs

Duct cleaning removes accumulated dust, debris, and biological growth from the interior surfaces of the duct system. Duct sealing closes gaps, cracks, and leaky connections to prevent conditioned air from escaping before it reaches the living space. They address different problems. A dirty duct system needs cleaning. A leaky duct system needs sealing. Some systems need both, but they’re separate services with separate purposes.
Maui’s hot attic temperatures, which can reach well above ambient outdoor temperatures during sunny afternoons, make duct leakage particularly costly. Conditioned air escaping into the attic is essentially gone, and the leaks also draw hot attic air into the return duct side of the system, forcing the AC to condition air that’s already extremely warm. The combination of high ambient heat and high humidity means duct leakage reduces both cooling efficiency and humidity control more severely than in milder climates.
Aeroseal is a process that pressurizes the duct system and injects a water-based polymer mist into the airstream. As the pressurized air escapes through leaks, the polymer particles accumulate at the edges of each opening and bond together, building up a seal from the inside without any direct access to the leaks. It’s effective for sealing leaks throughout the system, including those in inaccessible wall cavities or behind attic insulation. Steve’s Plumbing & A/C Service can advise on whether this method is available and appropriate for your system.
Mastic-sealed joints should hold for the lifespan of the duct system if the work was done correctly. Aeroseal-treated ducts are similarly durable. The sealing doesn’t wear out or degrade the way tape does. New leaks can develop over time from vibration, thermal cycling, or physical disturbance of the ductwork, but the original sealed points should remain intact. Re-sealing is only needed if new damage occurs or if the system is modified.
It can help, but it won’t fully compensate for an undersized unit. If the AC system is too small for the space, no amount of duct optimization will make it catch up on the hottest days. However, if a significant portion of the system’s airflow is being lost to duct leakage, sealing recovers that lost capacity and can make a meaningful difference in how the system performs. After sealing, if airflow to all rooms is restored and the system still struggles, upsizing or adding a supplemental unit is the next conversation.
